    ah sympathize with y'all.

My idea of the perfect home would be Ocean on one side, and no neighbors on the other three sides.

No neighbors means No Living Humans between me and 60 miles past the horizon.

Instead,I live in a town of 25,000 (and growing, ######). When I moved here 7 years ago, there were miles of fields between me and the urban sprawl. Not no more.

Still, not more than a car an hour goes by this place, usually. I can hear the coyotes yip about any given night. And I can, if I so choose, shoot my neighbors with the 9mm.

Man, I hate it here. 5 more years, just 5 more years...

Well the last post is over a year old and it seems that the problems described in the first post are only getting worse...

So I will send a comcheck for $100 to the one who debates Mule and gets this thread back rollin...

To prevent fraud and to enter the contest you must...

Post a pic here holding up a copy of a current newspaper.. with you sitting in your volvo with the door open displaying your cab.

Anybody that enters should trust MM to be fair and just since he is a solution finder...

If you don't look like me, act like me, talk like me, go places I go, and do the things I do, you're an idiot.

That's basically what this comes down to. And I do have my list of gripes about some immigrants washing their feet in the sinks, unclean drivers, urine bottles, etc. I'm all for drivers being neat and clean, but most of this other stuff is a matter of opinion and perception. It's the same with anything, we're more comfortable around those more like us.

Mule, just wanted to say I feel the same as you. I must be an old soul born in a new body... only been driving for almost 2 years now, and while I never got to see the heighday of trucks stops and trucking in general, I can certainly tell that today's drivers leave alot to be desired:biggrin_25510:

I know the TA in harrisburg that I spent most of my downtime at when working for Marten had its share of those problems. I don't know how many times the poor girl working the fuel desk had to hit the intercomm asking drivers to get their butts off the fuel island. Or how many times I listened to Jon, the guy that helped out with various stuff around the TA, complain about piss bottles all over the place.

Hell, he got hit by one on the shoulder one time while pressure washing the fuel island. The kicker? It wasn't closed right, and he got half a bottle of piss all over him. His solution? Well, the driver that threw it (and I hate to call him a driver...) promtly walked inside after parking on the fuel island... oh and he forgot to lock his doors... guess who had a wet seat when he came back out?

Guess it all comes down to companies paying for the bottom of the barrel, so getting the bottom of the barrel, and those of us who actually respect ourselves and others left to wonder what the hell we're doing here....

All I know is I miss the old days...I wasn't a driver at the time, but I had enough sense at 10 years old (riding with Dad all summer every summer) to know that things were heading in the wrong direction.

The only thing that has gotten better for the driver is the trucks themselves. Now its all flip flops, trash talk, and EVERYTHING costs waaaay too much...VERY few real men and women like we had then left.

Dad was ALWAYS clean and well dressed, my uncle (retired from CF) was ALWAYS clean and well dressed...both were always dressed for work though. Dad was/is a flatbedder, my uncle was a door slammer but a VERY good door slammer.

Me...I'm not always spotless clean but I do get a shower at least every other day, and I wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of flip flops...so if you see me in flip flops please turn around and leave...this shower is occupied. I don't wear shorts (ever)...I do like tank tops but the company I work for has a policy against them. I don't have "man b00bs"...I'm 6 feet tall and 165 lbs in excellent physical condition (lean and mean) so I don't think it looks trashy to wear tank tops, but thats their decision not mine.

Drivers could get a lot more respect if they first respected themselves.

I rebel aginst this stuff by being even neater and cleaner than I've always been. I used to wear T-shirts while working but now I only wear neat clean button down shirts I ALWAYS wear jeans and a belt and work boots. I shave every morning and always brush my teeth before I start driving or working each morning or evening as the case may be. I wash my hands numerous times a day and will not touch a restroom door handle without a paper towell to keep my hand from coming in contact with the filth that these trashy people leave behind! These slobs are at the root of many of the problems that we face each day as far as being treated disrespecfully by the public, cops and customers.

I keep my equipment spotlessly clean and in ship shape because that's the way it should be.
