1) You need apportioned plates for anything registered over 26K, driven out of the state registered.
2) Call your favorite insurance broker or company, I would suggest Progressive. Get a quote, and then rethink this idea.
3) Get a DOT number.
4) Don't leave the state your plates are registered in until you have apportioned tags.

I didn't see that you have a DOT/MC number when I submitted this response. Ignore #2 & #3

 

Don’t take this negatively, but I guarantee you these questions have been answered multiple times on this site. Just do a little digging.

You can operate in the state you have your plates issued from. Indiana plates, operate in Indiana. Illinois plates, operate in Illinois.

If you are based in Illinois, and have Illinois plates, you will need an Indiana trip and fuel permits.

Per Indiana State Police

"Three Day Trip Permits (72 hours) are offered to all out-of-state carriers that have not proportionately registered in Indiana and are properly registered and insured in their base state. Qualifying out-of-state carriers can operate in or drive through the state without having to proportionally register for Indiana. Must be carried in vehicle at all times when operated in state."

Nothing prevents you from getting fuel and trip permits for any additional states. Check out JJ Keller permits, or get your own.

 

Yes I agree. This business has gotten cheap cheap and yet people still jumping in for that big money that simply doesn’t exist. And of course we’re not being truthful. Oh well.
