@Chinatown have you heard of R. B. Stewart by any chance? They're a fuel hauler I'm curious about. Their main customer is Buccee's which is a massive travel stop tourism spot with at least 20 fuel pumps. I hear mixed opinions about fuel, but that seems like a basic job since this one huge place probably takes up a lot of gas.

    Also curious about Atlas Oil.

I'm going to look into Martin Transport LP tanker as well.

Some kind of Linehaul would be great though, but OD, Estes, and Saia never seeem to have openings.

As a small business owner. I list my start date of July 1,1985 to present. Then list the other jobs inbetween. When they ask. I tell them that I never stopped working my small jobs. I just let other companies pay me more money until they wanted some one else.

Not familiar with Atlas or Stewart, but have seen them around.
Probably as good as any for local work. Can't be that much difference in any of them.
Line haul is gravy money; wouldn't hurt to keep in touch and keep your job apps up to date there.

Have you heard of White Oak Transportation? Their ad reads like they have a local customer and reads as "Home most days" like maybe there are random layovers. They're close to me and run Mack trucks.

I think you're right it would be best to aim for Linehaul or one of the Tanker outfits, but if White Oak is local, consistent, and maybe even dedicated, I'm curious because their Bay Minette, AL terminal is so close to where I live.

Just 10 miles from me. It would be nice to upgrade to Tanker but I'm curious about this lead. Also, Bay Minette seems like a decent town and I could see moving closer and getting an apartment there.

I spoke with a very satisfied R&L Carrier driver at one of my pick ups. He drove a straight truck locally.

When I asked him about over the road he stuff, he mentioned that even the rookies on the fleet will make 1500 a week doing the easiest routes and be home like 3 days or something like that.

One quirk they make you pay monthly for your equipment like pallet jacks and whatknot until you own it. When I heard that I thought about my own company struggling to a hold on equipment and always being damaged due to abuse.

More senior over the road drivers earn a lot more than 1500. Some of them will stay out a long time and earn crazy money.

They also get access to free rooms in various locations for vacation. I remember off hand locations on Daytona Beach and Pidgeon Forge TN. There are others as well.

At any rate, the driver I spoke with was all smiles about his position working with R&L.
