XDS2 hands down. If you want to go in snow use these. Like having 4 wheel drive. I can climb a tree with them.

I use them in the winter only and switch to all position in the summer (each has their own rims). This is my 4th winter with them and they are still @ 3/4. Summer heat is their enemy. Been using them and their predecessor for 20 years here in northern NH.

I never worry about fuel economy or their cost as you can't buy insurance this cheap. If you're in the ditch you will use all of your fuel savings and more, on a hook. If you bang a fender or tear off a step how much money did you save over a cheaper, less grippy tire.
How about stopping distances:, missing a car vs. tagging it . Insurance claim vs. driving away.

Again the xds2 is the cheapest insurance on the market. Good for your confidence level too.

Reason for edit: Brain cramp, had xds in my mind but momentarily confused it with xdn.

Are you running the XDN2 or the XDN2 Grip?
I know the XDN2 are a great tire. And fully agree the cost of being in the ditch far out ways the savings.
The heat could be a issue as I do run the south through out the year.
You bring up great points. Which is why I am looking for people that have run the multi and how they handle. So far no first hand experiences yet.
    I do value everyones opinions

    XDS2 (see pic)

My best buddy at this company runs these on his T680, hes based in Langley BC and does lots of BC/California so wants all the traction he can get. I agree they have enough traction to climb a tree.

If the roads are that bad I don't need to be on them. If ya do a lot of offroad that's one thing, but on road work you don't need super aggressive lugs in the lower 48.

I have these pulling super b.
After stopping over night for freezing rain I left Whitewood and headed up to Yorkton. There is a deep valley and a long climb, tires never slipped and made it to the top without incident. Funny thing was the car behind me spun out and did a 360 three quarters of the way up the hill.
Really good in deep snow too.

I guess I can see your point, especially if you are primarily an interstate driver. Snow probably isn't ever allowed to get over3 of4 inches.

local and close regional work, not including off-road, for milk, livestock, grain etc is what we use them for here in northern N.E.

thanks for the opportunity to contribute.

They are little noisy on dry roads when new.

So in the end I decided to go with the XDN2. It really came down to availability. I couldn't find anyone that stocks the X multi so I figured I would have this same issue if I needed replacements out on the road.
Thanks everyone for your input. Happy New Year all!!
