    Well, good for you. I was the same way when I was younger and single.
    Keep in mind that at this point, I cannot be a good example of how to find well paying freight and I'd rather show my costs to be somewhat more representative.

    This is Chicago man- Property is not free........
    Gated outside space with security and electric is around $350 a month-

    I lease space for $500 a month- But its enough room for 5 trucks and trailers Plus Ive been there for 20 years or better, will not sell EVER...But Great location near Freeway and Toll road

    Yeah,But you wont make the money we make either- Down in San antone.....

    Its all Relative- Guys that Park at home out in the sticks dont have certain priviledges like we do ( Close to our customers- City Water and sewer, Close shopping and Truck Parts,And decent education..

    No offense to folks out in the country- But it will balance itself out- You'll spend just as much traveling to get things,,And Time is Money, Very important-

    The numbers just don't add up anymore.If I didn't have a wife with a good income,I couldn't afford to go trucking.

    You don't got to live in the middle of no where Montana to get property at a reasonable price.

    What kinds of maintenance added up to over $54,000 in 3 years? I can seen PM's and tires for maybe $10k of that, Did you have some mechanical issues?

    It adds up Steve.

    120 hours a year workin on her- Times $100 an hour is what I Bill out (Do my own work) Parts- Salvage- Disposal-Fluids- Im at 20k per year- every year- Sure I fix the numbers a lil bit......I Buy tires When I find deals-Whether I need em or not- Stuff adds up- Tools Break- Compressors need service- etc etc

    I guess I can't relate since I get new equipment and don't wrench my own. I give a lot of credit to those of you who can do it yourself.

    To get "ahead" of the game...You got to, Its a race tio the bottom with freight and rates snymore.....Cutting operational costs- saving money on labor- and keeping what you have (Solid assets) is the name of the game to live good.....Yeah Its Hard Worjk and Long hours.......But the Reward for your efforts are refreshing.
