    Over half of the guys at my barn have 20+ years seniority the most of them still unloading 15k pounds a day down a ramp. Four day work week, 5 weeks vacation and a very good living for there family's keeps them coming in everyday I guess.

    Here on the sandbar...the coca-cola guy an the Pepsi guy been there for years. My sandbar is likely a cushy job for them though. Traffic only sucks in the summer, an some places still shut down during the winter. If they got the Hatteras route that's cake...4 towns, 1 large grocery store, several little spots. Just about all can fit the trucks, some can't but there is usually a large enough lot next door to wherever they need to deliver.

    Hell if it's hourly pay, I'm sure their not #####ing during the summer sitting with traffic now that I think about it. I'd rather be stuck in my sandbar traffic then any traffic over on the mainland. Heh.

    @FlaSwampRat - I get a discount on my Coca-Cola when I visit FL right? HA! I kid I kid.

    I can drink either. I prefer Pepsi if fountain, and Coca-Cola if it's 2 liter, can, bottle, etc. Makes it easier when ordering when out to eat..."What would you like to drink?" Me: "Coke or Pepsi, Don't matter. I like both ". Funny when you get the not so smart waiter.

    An #### it...all you people who beat me to the post with the Coke jokes...I tip my hat to you. ;)

    Ah one last thing to my novel....Why does it matter what another driver decides to do? Whether, OTR, LTL, Local, etc etc Long as your happy where you are...who cares what anyone else does, or thinks. Your job your life. Not my job to judge anyone or their job choice. I leave that to social media. I'm just happy someone has a job.

    $28/hr to push Rd pallets? Doesn't seem to bad. I actually like it better than when I was at $38/hr just driving for the most part before I retired. Who do you work for and how much do you get paid for doing so much less work? Help these guys out and tell them where they should be working.

    $28/hr for beverage is on the high end. Not every company pays that and not every location is the same.

    Dr. Pepper is offering $165/day for route drivers in FL: Truck Driver CDL A Local

    They pay linehaul drivers a whopping 40cpm in my area.

    Jmelendez1223, McUzi and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

    You can make more than that in Lakeland running beer for Bernie Little Budweiser...don't even need a CDL, they train. I think Pepsi is at $29.48/hr here in Tampa. Top rate of course I don't know what the starting rate is. We start guys with zero experience at $21/hr and offer training if someone needs a license. I'm at $28 because I have experience and there are a few guys making more than me. Earlier in this thread someone said there are no people with time in beverage. We have four guys with over 40 years and 20 seems to be the average.

    That's the point though, beverage pay can be all over there place and blanket statements that it doesn't pay well enough are pretty worthless. Certainly some places don't pay enough.

    I already said......LTL. Any of the LTL companies will pay you more money for less work. I cant speak on coke because I never worked there, but pepsi was busy getting rid of all the easy bulk routes. They were going to the lame "Geo box" idea where they put bulk stops and and small format stops on the same 40ft truck. At my warehouse they paid all of the bulk drivers with a certain number of years, (I believe 25 years) to retire from the company. They got paid a lump sum to leave plus their pension amount. Good deal for them, not so much for the younger guys who essentially got guaranteed 12-14 hour routes with no increase in pay.

    So you have to spend 2 1/2 hours at the grocery store to deliver 3 pallets because there were 10 vendors in front of you? Oh well, get those other 19 stops done!

    Also it should be mentioned that coca cola distribution is divided up to regional franchises, so just because it works one way at a company doesnt mean itll be that way somewhere else.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
