Depending on when it was.. quite possibly a Fast & Furious type of thing.

I'm not at all sure what the thread title has to do with the post/question. Do you know what dropping the ball means? It means the opposite of what you're saying.

starmac, D.Tibbitt and PPDCT Thank this.

I wasn't sure what the thread title meant, I am not much into football but the original post defined the semantics as a situation when a broker begs me for covering a load and I am mercilessly refusing or demanding some outrageous rate. Otherwise, he will haul it himself in his Prius trunk.
Please correct me, if I am wrong.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Cleveland Oh to New Glasgow NB one pallet of machinery 1700 lbs for Michelin Tire 13k with Landstar. The broker first call was for 11k but I said no way though it was a scam could not understand him some African foreigner. He calls with back at 13k 15 minutes later begging me to take it. Still thinking it was a scam ask him to hook me up with someone at Landstar with that we got the deal done the machine was three days late. This dude called me every two hours finally turned my phone off and had no service in New Brunswick. Had the plant called him for me to let him know I delivered it on time and early. And yes I talked to him on there phone. It was hydraulic cooling radiator for a large press.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

'Dropped the ball' is a metaphor from sports originally. You can think of it literally that way. If you drop the ball, you lose. You fall through. You fail.

I've heard this all my life (in America) and so when I read the title I was thinking the OP was meaning times you failed a broker, as in you broke down or delivered late or otherwise failed to make your commitments.

PPDCT, starmac and TallJoe Thank this.

Well, if that's the case, then indeed, the stories presented missed the point. Perhaps another thread could be created for that...but who's going to tell stories like that... essentially f. up stories. LOL

No need to over react. I didn’t understand what you were saying. But now that you clarified I understand.
