I had a 96 pete with an 8PN in it. The 8PN was a great engine.

I guess you could still get either one in 96. Yes the C model was a good reliable horse

yes sir, cat serial #8PN09230 in 96 pete serial #TN422137***** great truck great engine. Sold it for a 03 pete with a 6NZ. I liked everything about the 96 better, except that smooth riding low air suspension of the 03.

As I appreciate everyone’s opinion on this, What came in the truck is irrelevant to me. And your correct it should have been 5ek more than likely but It’s got a B model, complete out of frame, and I headed to go pick it up with cash hand.

    mtoo and swaan Thank this.

Now hold on please. Its a split 10 with 5 additional LoLo gears. The LoLo gears are activated via a seperate switch on the stick. Ive never been stuck and Ive pulled 99,600lbs with this vehicle, and yes I used the LoLo gears to get rolling.

Shocks me how few guys I know that can shift a 15 the way it was intended. The name alone is an oxymoron because you can not sequentially shift 15 ratios out of it
Majority of people I have seen try to use deep reduction by engaging it in one hole and then kick it out and let rpms just fall in same gear. Taking off in a bad place I would start in 1st or 2nd deep reduction then shift the balance of gears left up to 5th tben push button forward as I go back to regular 4 and then to 5th and just as a 10spd after that. A great transmission for crawling around . Just too long of a jump from direct to over.
