How much actually personal LIVING space do you have on the road?

If I were still active, and my employer told me I had to operate a cabover, I would hand the keys back to them. I rather work in mickydees flipping burgers then mess around with one of those things. Drivers these days don't really see how much trucks has changed.

 

I get what you're saying..but, I am home most every night, but still will never be without a bunk of some kind. Shippers when the load isn't done, or a long line of waiting. No way. I see these daycabbers slumped over the wheel. Ahh laying down on detention makes me sleep well.

 

Man you have it made. All you gotta do is keep living..to enjoy. Stuff you pillow with 100 dollar bills. Lol

 

I go back to the days of standard issue single bunk cabovers on spring suspension and almost 0 amenities...noisy as hell .
Peace poor HVAC.
Now ? ...hail !
Stand up and move around.
Windows galore.
Wrap around curtains.
Diesel fired apu with in cab power.
Fridge/ freezer / microwave.
Nice pillow top mattress .
Cabinet space galore .
Satalite tv .
High spec stereo with xm .
This is the lap of luxury compared to what I started with .
Ohhhh and 33 years into it now still in good health and my back isnt shot .

 

Careful with Kombucha all of it has a little bit of alcohol. The longer its sat on the shelf the more it has. Back when it wasnt as hip and sold as much ive had some that gave me a slight buzz.

 

There are more important issues than that, detention, safety issues, hos, pension . I was an O/O with a Union Company, we got paid Holidays, paid Vacations. That was many years and trucking jobs ago.

 

Good catch, I think it's an Emeryville ( DCO-405) with that steering wheel. Transtar 400's had a 3 spoke wheel, I believe. And we never had a drivers seat like that. A crappy worn Bostrom "Levelaire", if we were lucky. Looking at the video it's clearly an Emeryville. I think it has that funky IH "15 speed" with the "Lo-Med,Hi" on the shift knob.

 

Once a week, whether I need it or not...
