R&L Carriers; Any info.?

After going back and forth, I finally decided to go ahead with RL Carriers. Starting job this week as a city driver. For such a large company, seems a bit strange that there seems to be so little mentioned of them in this forum.

 

Talking to myself (although ‘out loud’)........

Ok, you old rascal, so you completed your first day with RL Carriers today. Not alot to be expected, I expect. The usual formalities; forms, forms and a coupla’ more forms, all telling me what I need to do, what I am not allowed to do, and then my agreeing to everything that I am agreeing to let them do.

Thought it all just a little bit.... unbalanced... that not once was I given any information on what was being offered to me by the company; you know, sort’ of important things like medical benefits. The manager, along with everybody else in the office had no clue as to what medical insurance company is offered, how much, what the deductables are and what have you. Or, what have you not. At least I was told what my expected pay is, with no overtime, most certainly of course.

Ahh, I’m turning over a new leaf, beginning today; no more negative thoughts, no more complaining, no more expectations for whatever it is that I’ve convinced myself to expect. Only when I know that I’m already dead can I begin to function as a proper soldier.

I’m gonna’ love it here.

RL Carriers is owned by one man, Ralph Roberts.

He has huge terminals all across the US. He already owns several, gigantic resorts all across the country, if not the world. He has equipment, buildings, trucks, trailers, pools, restaraunts, helicopters, private jets, entire computer networks, small factories that manufacture his own goods, the finest of several thoroughbred horse plantations, mansions, luxury yachts, the finest of fleets of personal automobiles, and tons, tons tons, of nearly infinite, hard cash.

All for... one man.

And he won’t pay his drivers any overtime whatsoever and he makes them all purchase their own pallet jacks as well. If they never, eventually, make it big, then they all must be inherently flawed, unlike their employer.

Righteous are the rich.

But it’s much cheaper for the company to pay fewer drivers OT than it is to have more drivers with health insurance.
