You will want to get into Medicines if at all possible. Visit Memphis San Fran or other major cities to see what are on the doors of the relatively unmarked Motor carriers that run loads for McKesson. You don't even need to go out in a big rig, they can issue you a hino and have you support hosptials for a very good rate of pay every day.
There are way better places than Covenant. The danger with Covenant that I know first hand is that they are one of 15 companies working together with their own DAC like database. So if for whatever reason you failed Covenant you also failed the other 15 carriers hiring chances.
Do not bother with CR England etc. DO NOT get lured into dollar general dedicated or similar. You both will be sorry.
Whats a team to do then? Well... your first year is all about teaching you what you do not yet know. So pay will be low and a bunch of other things will make themselves apparent that first year or two.
Team running is very intense. Being able to sleep a good night or day in a slamming, bouncing, swaying and relatively chaotic sleeper berth is a art of itself.
Finally but not least. Monitor your health very closely. If you start early stages of Obesity, Diabetes or something else due to that particular kind of lifestyle then it's not good for you.

Hubby and I have been driving for covenant for a year. We love it. We make industry standard for new drivers. Maybe we could make more if we looked around.
They have a nice benefits package. Health, vision, dental, matching 401k... but also additional resources like a legal plan for 6 bucks a week, and help with living over the road, and mental health services over the health plan.
We LOVE our team. They are funny, responsive, brilliant, and compassionate. The open door policy means you have office, email, and phone access to all members of management all the way up to the owner.
Our truck is almost brand new, and well maintained. We get a brand new truck as soon as they can ory my curled, cramped fingers from this steering wheel. I love my truck. We have one of the newest fleets in the industry.
They have a culture if safety here. We have been rerouted 400 miles or more to avoid bad weather. We have permission to shut down in any weather condition that makes us feel uncomfortable, and if 3 of us do that in a specific area, they shut it down for the whole company.
Our trainer was awesome, and will be a lifelong friend. Most cov trainers are really nice guys who care about teaching well.
There are more esoteric benefits too. We have a routing dept to plan our paths to and from all customers. We have a hazmat dept, so we stay compliant with regs. We have maintenance that inspects us once a month or so, so our trucks are dot inspected. We rarely stop at weigh stations because we pass so many inspections percentage wise.
There may be better paying companies, but I find it hard to believe that a company cares for about their drivers.
We always run out of hours every week, and have to reset. We rarely run recaps. We have used our tanker and doubles endorsements too, but hazmat is critical. There are random otr positions, as well as dedicated routes where you can be home regularly.
We love covenant.Greg0692, Just passing by, Truckermania and 3 others Thank this. -

Greg0692, MBAngel, Odin's Rabid Dog and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've seen some benefits out here with other companies that are pretty expensive and stupid in my opinion.
I can now say that Covenant Transport has a decent insurance plan. I remember paying about $25 a week for single coverage 80/20 deductible back 2014 to 2015.
The only thing I didn't like about Covenant is they had big accounts so they need you to cover ALL OF THE LOADS! Including a short 700 mile run that should be given to a solo.Last edited: Jan 10, 2020
Jellybean13 Thanks this. -
Go with any reefer company they will hire a team. You will get longer runs and guaranteed good miles.
The dry van division at Covenant Transport is god aweful in my opinion. They have a reefer division which you can make miles on.
Refrigerated at any company is the place to be for teams.Jellybean13 and LoSt_AgAiN Thank this.
