Any Menards company drivers here?

I'm from Wisconsin, and have delivered to their "little city" in Eau Claire. I didn't think they had company trucks, as all I ever saw were outside contractors with daycabs. I think it's a good company, they seem to treat their employees well, at least the ones I talked to.

 

I never seen a Menards company truck. I do see signs for becoming independent contractor to Menards. You own your own truck and pull their trailer.

My company goes to Menards DC a lot and what they do is. Bring loads to Menards on our trailers. Then we drop the loaded trailer and get empty and leave. Sometimes they preload another trailer going to another Menards DC. So we take that and move DC to DC loaded for them. Sometimes we get loaded trailer from Menards DC and make a store delivery. Menards is different from most places, like when we do a store delivery you just show up no appointment need. The take deliveries like 7am-10pm. They just like to know you ETA to the stores.

If you only are a one trailer guy then they would have live load and live unload at DC and they would take longer

 

They don't have "company trucks" Even their store deliveries are contracted. Much of their freight goes on Black Horse carriers.

 

Looks legit. Maybe due to lack of owners anymore, they have to do that. I mean, if you can't make it as an O/O with a company like Menards, you have no business owning a truck. The only thing that would scare me is the mileage pay. If you run into trouble, and I've delivered to Menards stores, and you have to wait, you're taking it in the shorts. The benefits probably make up for some of that, but this should, by all rights, be an hourly pay job. At the end of the week, the cashier may have made more than you, just sayin',,

 

I’ve looked into Menards more than once. The pay for O/Os was always terrible. Their pay in General for store employees is less than the Competition. Every Contractor I ever spoke to, usually had a straight box, or a dually with a gooseneck. They all were doing terrible. I like Menards, they’re growing fast. But its no surprise they can’t find Contractors. I’m surprised it took this long, maybe a Company W2 Driving Job would be good. Pay comparable to other Workers, a little below the Market. Eventually they’ll learn, like Home Depot, and just give the account to Ryder, Penske, or some other Mega. They’re not through, making changes.If you start Driving for them now, in a few yrs. you may be out of a Job,Driving at least, and might be offered a Job inside, or from the new account holder, like Ryder, and at a different pay rate. In Menards case, you’ll probably get a pay increase, from Ryder. I really like Menards, but the pay could be better.
