Cam looks fine, or at least fine enough I’m not going to worry about it. If I had deep pockets with lots of spare time I’d slide a new stick in. Couldn’t find another rocker over the weekend, so I’ll have to decide what to do for tomorrow. Have a load on the truck that has to travel 220 miles. Either deliver the load then pick up the part in that town, or push delivery back a day so I can pick up the arm in a different town 70 miles away to fix it tomorrow.

Your cam is trashed also from what I see in pic.if your going to run it to deliver the load don't put a new rocker on with that cam. You would be throwing away $$$$. Not going to say run it ....that's your choice. But I would just slap the cover back on and deliver the load. Then get new cam and rocker or rockers. Damage is already done, no getting by it.

The next owner can put a new cam in. I’ll run on 5 cylinders rather than put that kind of money into this POS yellow turd.

Things happen in this business. Having a reserve to fix breakdowns is a must. If no reserve is built.... then yes..... every engine regardless of color... is gonna be a piece of crap. My yellow has been the best I ever had... and I have never neglected it. I take of it and it takes care of me. Sorry to hear of your issues. Maybe you should try a green one. Goodluck

About 3 years or so ago.... I was adjusting the valves and notice a couple where max out(no more adjustment), so either it was soft valve or seats. It was still within Cat specs.... but I didn’t run it very long. Within a month a replaced the head. Yes..... cost me some money but got it done. I didn’t want to drop a valve in the future and cost a lot more. I started a thread on it when I did it. Anyways..... my point is like I already mentioned.... I took care of it cuz it had to be done. I never thought twice about it.

My buddy who’s a logger runs Cats, and he talked me into getting this one. Now he laughs every time I have a problem. I can’t go a month between problems with this thing, so my “reserve” I did have is gone. With freight and rates where they are I can barely keep my head above water. If it was a green motor I could #### near rebuild the thing for the price of installing a new cam. I regret this truck tremendously.

Then I have my insurance renewal coming up next month. Feel like I’ve been beating my head against the wall for two years.

Things wear out no matter what color they are !
But at least if you fix this you know what you got you buy another used piece of crap and then you go through the same process again!
