Upgrading wheels on my truck

    That wouldn't be a bad choice for the entire truck. They also make an m700hd which has very similar specs with just a slightly more aggressive tread pattern...more of a true drive position but on a 4wd that would be okay. Either would be a good choice for a drive axle on a dually if long life is the goal.

    New wheels are on. Went from 235/85 r17 to 225/70 R19.5.
    I went with budget tires for now, Ironman i109 on the front and spare and i604 on the drives.
    They are the same width and nearly the same diameter.
    Truck still drives nice. Not a harder ride. Truck doesn't seem to know the difference.
    $2900 all in. Centramatics getting installed next week.

    Looks good, report back on the ride quality. Did you ever go air suspension? I was on the rough portion of 71 and that made up my mind to at least get air for the drive axle

    Ride feels the same bobtail. Getting air for the drives for sure, hopefully by the end of the month.

    Looks good. :thumbup:
    The chrome center caps from your stock 17's should still pop on to the lugs. Would dress it up a bit..
    Don't know if they make beauty rings for 19.5's but they were a cheap way to look a little different & still access the valve stems on the 17's..

    Not bad. Those should last 100k easy. I would probably also pop the center caps back on the fronts after the Centramatics go on to maybe dress it up a bit.

    I might have been tempted to go aluminum on the steer axle just for aesthetic purposes if the tires on the front are different anyway...not like you will ever be rotating them to the back. I forget is your truck 2wd or 4x4?

    Dont have caps for the front. Truck is 4x4. Not worried about looks right now. Just affordable functionality.

    I've very pleased with the new wheels. About 5k miles on them and the ride isn't noticeably harder/harsher. 19.5s do like to grab the grooves in the road and switching lanes that are different height is a tiny bit sketchy but nothing you can't handle. I'm getting better MPG by approximately .5 average.

    All that's left is to find someone who wants to buy the old wheels off of me.

    I dont know how to measure that but when I put the old wheel next to the new one the difference is about a quarter to half an inch between them. They are nearly identical size wise. The 19.5 sidewall is smaller than the 17.
    The speedometer camera thingies at work zones show that the truck's speedometer is still accurate.
