The wife asked me once what her 'role' on the truck was, since we're supposed to be a team.... (shakes head)
I told her it was my job to take care of the business, her job was to take care of me. After a year together out here, we're beginning to get into a routine. We've come to an understanding... I don't complain (much) about what she makes for dinner and she doesn't complain (as much) about having to do it.
    :-D

My only experience with a second person in my truck was when one of my daughters was riding along.
The only thing I required was that she was in the front seat if I got pulled in to a scale or went in to a terminal.
Otherwise, free to move about the cabin. And I did all the cooking.

Is your head shake an indication that she does not live up to your expectations?

When I did OTR I ate a couple for ribeye steaks every day that I cooked myself. I also like to cook scrambled eggs. I probably averaged about $20 a day on food.

If I need to cut corners food will be the last thing I cut.

Great planning. Very good diet. Probably don't get sick much and feel pretty good most of the time. I'm going to copy and paste this for when I start going solo.

Im all for saving money and everything. But This job is hard enough out here . A good meal goes along ways. Drivers stop being cheap and reward urself. Money can be cut from other areas . Nothing comes between me and a good meal

We used a pair of dutch ovens. Generally food items went into those and let cook half a day. Based on dinner for the two of us generally.

When dispatch were ordered to allow us to do a form of 34 reset before there was one, we used that time to have three proper meals at the truckstop or nearby resturant with full service only not fast food. Takes a little bit of money once a week, but it ensures we gain food items into our systems and do better for it.

When rolling if passing through Laraime or some particular town we will make a stop and pick up items specifically not available elsewhere. We used to get for example a case of thick cut from there that were very good over time. Another example would be Windsor Canada. There are foods and other things not sold in USA. And we would import a quantity in the storage bin after shopping there.

This month with being sick going on 3 weeks, my food items were reduced to a bare minimum. Eggs and some sort of potato here in the morning and a meat based meal for dinner. Not much else. However once a month we go get a meal that includes what we would consider premium foods that otherwise would be unaffordable. Or break out the crock pots and make them over a day. Then eat on them a week.

I offer this final thought. Fast food will probably have to stop at some point in the near future because they insist on using plant based burgers. Thats not meat in our opinion. And so, we stop providing business to those places whom sells those new products. We have been looking into shipments of various foods to our door from time to time to supplement the stores that have quit selling certain items. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks, we have only been sick once. (Flu this year. We do get our Flu and pneumonia vaccination every year)

Our energy levels are pretty good. We also do walk on our breaks, use resistance bands and a kettle ball for exercise. I haven't gained any weight either. My husband has actually lost weight.
