Well I ate my words on fuel additives this morning.

FPPF polar power works great to keep from gelling if you can find it.
Or just get a gallon of gasoline and half it in each tank..add a lil octane, make it run a little hotter.

 

I use 100% kerosene for bunk heater.

 

The newest one don’t return much fuel.....

 

I do this when it’s -20 or below ..... to the primary fuel filter (outside of the frame rail)

And the truck doesn’t shut off at that temp or below ....

 

I really believe it is this bio diesel crap that creates the problem. I use to fuel in Grand forks or Fargo Nd and it was going to be 30 below that night and I would put 20 gallons of number 1 in each tank and fill the rest with number 2 go home shut truck off and plug in the block heater go out in the morning hit the starter and it would fire right up and never miss a beat other than it took awhile to get the oil pressure to come up. Last winter I gelled up twice and it is like what the f as one time I fueled up and didn't even get out of the truckstop in Wisconsin and there I sat. I have never been a fan of buying fuel additives but it seems like you have to now.

 

With the exception of Hardin the PFJ’s in MT all have the same fuel as Town Pump stores.

That was one thing I liked about running Canada. Buy fuel up there and you have nothing to worry about. And we always had Canadian fuel at our tank at the yard.

 

Takes a good 45 minutes to get my ISX to 150F water temp from 0F now.

 

Well we have some not liking Howe's, some not liking PS.

So what is the go to additives then, for those of us with no additives experience?

 

And all the town pumps seem to be selling crappy fuel.
