Thats a pretty good overweight.
I take it the scales were built to take those Michigan trains then.
I had regularly broken gross weights in my day. But nothing like this blatant violation. It's pretty outlaw not to have tractor trailer with the proper signage and papers on it. I think the heaviest Ive been at would be 160,000 on paper. And that particular load broke one scales at 134500 which generated a 3K fine against the company. This would be close to 10K in 1980's money today per inflation.
I think back way back and remember that the Michican Trains were their own existance. You could not take those into other states without a one hell of a permit. Or split into two flatbeds to take the coils on south. You could scale around 180,000 or so with them inside Michigan based on axles and not really be a problem. But other states would definately would be BIG problem.sevenmph Thanks this. -
Billy BigRigger aka 36-year-old Gene Maag of Waterloo, Indiana said in his defense, "I've hauled heavier and I'll do it again. State and Federal laws dont mean nothin' to me. I's got freight to move".

I don't think the mills care too much either. In the end if the fella has lined his pockets running that steel then I suppose nothing else matters to him in the end. Pay up. =)sevenmph Thanks this. -
just looking at the truck, I can see multiple violations.

You are right, that thing has no tags, no stickers no writing on it, not even a fire extinguisher inside sort of thing. And I don't see a bridge pole for the airlines back there etc.
sevenmph and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
If he had tags and numbers, he probably wouldn't have even been noticed
drvrtech77, Lostkeys and sevenmph Thank this. -

ALL RIGHT,,, I can hear it now, "I'm proud you son,,,except you got caught". I hope that night with that gal was worth it. You don't run loads like that during the day. 1st, that's BS, a "Michigan train" can haul more than 80K, without permits, I think, it's got 8 axles. Last of the great outlaws, and after all that, a warning for the no permits,, I'm sorry, this guy gets an "attaboy" in my book. Hey, could this be the member that was redoing a red Pete?
Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
