    REFRESHER TRAINING
If you have a CDL but just haven’t driven for awhile we can help get you back in the industry. This convenient program offers customized CDL training to bring current and former truck drivers “up to speed” on various aspects of the profession. This includes hands-on driving time behind the wheel of a semi tractor-trailer.

Post the law, you can legally be hired with a lifetime off, what is up with that answer?

It is hind of stupid that a question like this even needs asking, 6 months is more like an extended vacation than anything.

Its not a stupid question considering i have already been turned down for a job bc of my lack of recent experience. You literally came to this thread to talk #### to 2 different people?

It's more a company or insurance policy ..as I have hired people with gaps longer then a year twice this year

Sorry, was did you mean that it was stupid for you to ask, I meant that it is stupid that it is even an issue in this industry.
As far as the one about legality, it does get under my skin when someone post legalities with absolutely zero truth to them as if it was gospel. In my opinion it is better to not post than spread stuff that is just not true when a lot of guys are new and do not know any different.
A lot of guys will help a guy get his license, (with out any school) and then hire them with no experience at all. it is perfectly legal if you want to pay the insurance for it.
Keep looking and maybe at smaller companies, not all companies will even think anything about you being off for 6 months, and good luck
Personally I like the smaller, family run companies better myself, but not everyone does.

Easy, hand. @starmac didnt mean any harm.

Prime wants you to do the trainer thing again so they can some more cheap labor miles out of you. They’re a starter company...that’s what they do. You had just 6 months off. Their requiring you to ride with ANY trainer for any amount of time is simply ridiculous.

“But Six, I got turned down...”

And so you think you need to learn your ABC’s all over again. No you don’t. My mom caught cancer and I was off the road for 7 years and didn’t have to do that. Aim higher.

I consider myself fairly well versed in Title 49 CFR parts 40 and Most of subtitle B Chapter iii, Parts 300 to 399. I know of no such rule that makes it illegal to be out of driving for 6 months and come back in. Yes, because of part 391 you have to account for the gaps. But there is NO language anywhere that speaks to it being illegal. @brian991219 might know of something.

Sure, don’t you know one needs a lifetime of training to go a maximum speed of 54 mph?
