Truck Hit By Train

Notice you couldn't hear the train itself? Had the engineer not sounded the horn at all there'd be no warning. Sound travels outwards from the sides of the train. Next to no sound is projected forward.

 

Being a railroad geek. I happen to know that a rail road horn (Leslie 5 chime). Produces 150 DB in 100 feet. Btw? You can lose your hearing with sustained 85db.

 

Now that son, I say son, that is a horn. Those pitiful wanna be's they sell at Iowa 80 to Billy Big Rigger are a joke. For the last 8 or nine years I have lived within 200 yards of a RR track, within a mile of a crossing. One track had over 90 trains a day pass. I heard all 90 of them, inside my house behind some trees.

 

Yeah a 5 chime Leslie can be heard up to five miles distance (as too how loud they are). Ask @Cattleman84 what its like to have them. grin

 

But does he have the headlights, too? None of the trucks with train horns that I have seen has the lights. That's what would impress me.

 

No need for that horn !
Just record my ex wife when she's on the war path and every living creature within 10 miles would haul ###.
