Or getting deep in Arizona where the truck stays in the ruts and making a sammich.
Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this. -
My job required me to obtain a Class A with tanker. I mainly drive a dump truck. Sometimes an older GMC C8500. Other times an International DT 7400 DT 466 or a 4900, or a Workstar Maxxforce. Employer has a mixed bag of trucks. Some have permanent beds and others are hook and dumps. Sometimes I also pull a trailer with heavy equipment. In the winter time I salt and plow too.
So in conclusion. No. I don’t really consider myself a “real trucker.”
I’m just a dummy in a dump truck. LolMike2633 Thanks this. -
If it diesel you a trucker.
Western flyer and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Tarping in Rawlins Wyoming where if the wind stops everyone falls over.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Sometimes i feel like im not a "real" driver, since i only pull doubles from terminal to terminal and sleep in hotels... But, then I look at my license and see that class AMTX CDL and the fat ### check getting deposited in my account every week and I think, yeh.. its real enough for me lol. I did local driving for 6 weeks, getting pretty good at backing to docks and navigating city streets, but line haul is a little more what i wanted when i set out to get my license.. Nothing makes it any easier leaving my wife every week tho, i can only hope I can get a small bid run sooner than later.
Mike2633, TruckingStraight and BackwoodsGA Thank this. -
I'm a yard dog. You can imagine the crap they say about me.
Roadgeek395, Mike2633 and McUzi Thank this. -
Are you in the habit of dropping trailers both 2 inches apart and 10 inches too high?
If not, there wouldn’t be any crap said from here.BackwoodsGA, CrappieJunkie and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Right now and do his job, without needing any training,
Or testing or new qualifications.
Then the answer is yes.
If you can't then the answer is no. Your not a real trucker.
Because he can do both without needing any of
That stuff.
That being said. Having driven almost everything in
My 25 years.
The box truck is by far my favorite.
No where near the headache of the semi.
For 2/3 bucks an hour less, I'll take that box truck
Every time.Roadgeek395 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
I like the box Trucks for city delivery route work. We use mostly 28’ trailers, and we’ve had rental box trucks before, they work fairly well. I know my old boss was trying to get the company to give us a box truck at our yard.
Western flyer Thanks this.
