What's interesting is how Calamity Jane assumed that was a Swift driver on the gurney when in fact it was one of the passengers in one of the cars (I actually watched the video). Both drivers in the Swift truck had minor to moderate injuries.

 

The only bad part about Stevens Transport is that it is in a really bad part of Dallas. I used to work at a furniture factory right down the road from the terminal where the school is.

 

I caught that in the interview of CHP officer. When he said driver had minor to moderate injuries I thought, “well, pumping a person’s chest in CPR is neither minor nor moderate.” Typical assumption that the fat guy HAS to be a truck driver. Wonder if that goes for plumbers? See a fat guy with a wrench...”Gotta be plumber.”

 

If you went with Swift, it's like a little island in Corsicana, Tx. About an hour south of Dallas off I-45.. They will pay for the bus ticket if you don't want to drive. The hotel is one of the nicer in town, La Quinta. Indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and workout. Looks new. They will bus you to Wal-Mart and HEB twice a week for food, and guarantee a large fridge and misco in each room, which you will share with a random stranger.

Within easy waking distance is a convenience store, taquiro, jack box, and taco bell, not bad. Be careful drinking beer, hide the empties trust me lol.

Cost is about 5k w/ hotel, only takes about 6 months at $300 a month if you stay with Swift, there is no contract. The academy is HUGE, one of the biggest in the US acreage wise. It's good enough, they need to focus more on backing though. Since the merger with Knight, they are starting out low 40's dry van, quite a bit more reefer, not bad, plus like 3k in new driver bonuses to retain in the first 6 months. Paid me out like clock work, I was actually pretty happy with them overall.

 

Most of them you dont even need a co signer. Theyll house you free(take it out of your checks after you drive for them) along with the bus ticket up there.Food money can come from donating plasma or a new buddy at driving school.Not a preferred way,but, if they hit it off with you, theyll share some pizza with you. Sometimes a trainer will help you out if they like you and thank youre gonna work out and be a good driver.JMO

 

CPR is a code. Form of immediate remedy needed. Usually resolved either way in a short time

Injuries and status medically have their own matrix. Mild to moderate means banged up but nothing too bad. And you have your fair, serious, to Critical which means you are on life support by machine or some extreme situation at the hospital. Life is not guaranteed from one hour to the next.

Trucks are 40 ton give or take sometimes higher. And cars are 2000 pounds if that. There is usually no contest between the two. A recent video on TTR showed a drunk in the Camp Hill area plowing dozens and killing several when he failed to stop for a routine back up.

 

Sorry, if a person is rendered unconscious and requires immediate first aid in the form of CPR, that in my opinion, would be classified as a serious injury when giving a status report. But, we can agree to disagree because my opinion is no more valid than yours.

 

Unconsiouness is a level of medical concern and would rate as serious in our area. Excessive pain is also that criteria.

What i am attempting to show is that there is certain issues that require attention life or death and medical term for that is Code.

I keep a advanced directive. if I code as in heart stops goes unconsious for whatever reason I have coded. The staff will automatically respond to try and restart that heart by any means possible including opening the chest. My AD prevents that backed by a DNR so if the thing did stop, that's it. Run me through records discharge and morque to funeral home. That keeps a form of order in my situation in a hospital.

When I was in previously for inuries etc I was rated fair, because I can talk, communciate and function with some medicine. Nothing too serious. If it was to worsen and require surgery, trauma or ICU or Life support then my criteria will be graded down away from fair towards Critical in steps of four seperate tiers.

Coding and medical status (Condition) are closely related. And if a person was undergoing CPR and is unconsious then condition is critical.

I am not here to disagree, just to explain my position and hear yours. Who knows we might learn something.

Patient Condition Updates

A paragraph about conditions.

We use standard language acceptable under HIPAA laws and American Hospital Association guidelines to describe patient conditions. They are:

Undetermined - Patient is awaiting physician and/or assessment.
Good - Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
Fair - Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
Serious - Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
Critical - Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.
Treated and Released – This could mean the patient was sent home or to another facility.
Confirming patient deaths – We will report or confirm a patient’s death only after signed consent from next of kin.

 

CPR AND unconscious? CPR is never performed on someone who is conscious. It only applies to the unconscious. LMAO. I’m done.
