A general question about Truck Stop Fuel Prices.
I'm a Company Driver, so I fuel where my company states... I can choose Love's, TA, Petro and Pilot.
Doesn't matter...fuel when I need fuel. Just stop at one of those places.
Question...while driving North on I75 thru Ohio headed home, Not for the first time... but I notice that
Smaller Fuel Stops, "mom and Pops" "independents"...etc along the way.... advertise this morning,
btw 2.81 and 2.89 a gallon and the "big 4" along the way are showing 3.09.
I know my company gets a "discount"....But why the discrepancy?
Simply curious to know.... Thx

Because the mom and pop places are not hiking the pump price to cover the discounts that the TS give to the largest customers.

I have a simple theory. They charge more because they can get it. If big fleets quit paying big bucks they would have to lower prices. Everyone likes making more money.

the mega truck stops have a "captive" audience , drivers a told where to fuel and they can charge more.
as a company driver with just a co. credit card ,I always stayed away from the crowded stops.

That posted price of $3.09 is what the average driver/motorist pays.

As a fuel hauler the price changes throughout. The day. A place like loves is getting deliveries 24/7 where a mom and pop place can order when the price is down due to less traffic
