Volvo VNL Pressure Sensor and Brake Switch Removal

    Hi all!

    I have read many posts here and looked around... I am having issues removing some of the switches and the sensors that are located behind the pedals under the steering column. Picture below.

    I chocked the wheels and let all air out of the truck, and still having some hard time pulling them off. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    SPN 1067 FMI 7 and 11

    They use a clamp like Chinese finger cuffs. Just pulling on them won't release them. There's a little ring around where the pressure switch pushes into the pass-through. That ring has to be pushed towards the valve to release the tension. On those pressure switches, the easiest way I found was to stick a flat screwdriver between the pressure switch and the ring and twist. Because they're so close to each other, the screwdriver compresses the ring and pushes the switch out at the same time.

    Hey there! The switches gave me such hard time! Very hard to get in there with all the other hoses and the sensors.... even after removing all of the sensors! (sensors came right off! all of them.. push the gold ring, and pull the hose/sensor)

    As for the switches... for future references. Have both these switches in hand before trying this job!!! They break very easily! My brother broke them both and pulled them with a pair pliers lol.

    Usually if you use a hose pick just push between ring and switch will pop right out it’s also just the right angle to get in there

    I just change one yesterday all i did was push on the ring down and pull the switch and it came out very easy

    Don't forget to pull brass colett out and change O-ring while sensor is out.
    Save your time searching for air leaks in future.

    Wait til you get to change all the air line manifold just left of the transmission on the side of the road at night. It's way up in the frame rail. It's a real party getting up in there and releasing 10 of those PIA fittings.

    Did that recently! Crappy position! We keep those manifolds as spares now.

    Replaced a pass-through the other day too. Yikes lol that’s never fun. No it wasn’t a hairline crack, broken sensor.
