You would be ok in regards to your license.
You would be overweight in regards to weight law. If you pull that load regularly, you'll likely need to get a heaver duty truck. I mean if the rating is just because that's what it's registered at, simply go to DMV and get new tags. If it's what the rating for the factory is you'll need a different truck. -

Throw a hitch on it and get a utility trailer with under 10,000 GVWR.
26k on the truck and 2 k on the trailer is ok as long as the trailer is under 10k.
Bonus, it is still not a CDL combo. Penske rents this combo to regular Joe Schmoes all the time, car carrier trailer behind a 26k GVWR box truck.

If the manufactures sticker on the drivers door says 26 K you need a CDL B even if you are empty. If the truck has air brakes which I bet it does you need an AIR BRAKE endorsement.

Also, the cutoff is 26,001 lbs or more, so a truck that says 26,000 GVWR is technically not CDL. Despite that, most mfg's will rate at 25,500, 25,950, or 25,999 to avoid any confusion.ChevyCam, MACK E-6, brian991219 and 1 other person Thank this.
