Some job hopping and a year in a charter bus has sunk me

Slow time of the year. Freight is slow first quarter of the year. Also freight has
slowed quite a bit in the last year......many companies have more trucks than
freight.

If these guys had work they wouldn't be nearly so picky. Freight usually starts
moving Mar or Apr. Companies will start hiring again.

 

How picky companies are is a DIRECT sign to how much work they
have. When a company has trouble keeping their existing drivers busy
they will be slow to hire new drivers.

 

Quite a few years ago I hired on with a company in the winter....freight was slow.
I jumped through hoops to get the job. Summer of the same year.....freight was busy.
They greatly relaxed their hiring "standards". I was surprised at some of the guys they
ended up hiring...….

 

Look at a smaller company. I know there are jobs out there, I just got one.

 

Look in our help wanted section.

 

Try Pitt-Ohio. I can't imagine they would not want such a great candidate....and you are one IMO!

 

I was a charter bus driver for 20 years, and yep, January tends to be slow, February almost as much.

 

Abilene Motor Express will probably hire you.
Hired a couple of drivers that had been off the road 20 years.
It's a good outfit. Apply and probably be hired.
