Hi All - I take my test next Tuesday and I'm looking for good a starter company in the Lexington KY area...I'm driving to Cincinnati for CDL school so even companies up there would be acceptable. Thus far I'm familiar with PTL or Paschall (didn't get the best vibe from them, seemed hurried and dismisive), NTB (i like the schedule they offer but many reviews talk about low miles, really low orientation pay, and old equipment), Gypsum Express (I'm probably tool old and out of shape for flatbed but orientation pay was good, min 750/week). What I'm looking for is dry van or reefer, regional (or home in Lexington most often for the 34 reset but 48 would be best, doesn't have to be the weekend), decent orientation pay, and decent pay after going solo. One thing I don't want to do is deal with is a sleep apnea situation with a company, I am going through my current insurance to ascertain if I have it and need the CPAP, but I don't want to go to a company and then be sent home if their doctor finds that I have it.

do some searching on who has terms or drop yards close by. the find a starter company on that. you may have to drive a little home.

Look at Millis Transfer. They have loads going through Lexington daily so getting home wouldn’t be a problem. They have a yard in Hamilton just north of Cincinnati. Nice trucks with Directv, sxm radio and inverters all provided by the company.
-
Also they don’t mess with sleep apnea, come in with your med card and you’ll be good to go
-
I'm not sure if Millis takes students from other CDL programs. I thought it has to be their own school.?
HO Wolding might be one to look at. I don't think they've got a yard close by but they should go through the area often. There's got to be a place to park the truck around Lexington when on hometime. -
Sleep apnea isn't a hindrance to a trucking job as long as the CPAP information can be downloaded to show you're in compliance.

I think you’re right actually, my bad. If you don’t use their school I’m pretty sure they require 6 months experience. However, policy may have changed since Heartland Express purchased them so I would still give them a call just in case.
