I am leased on to a carrier and I feel like giving them the finger! I'm running their plates right now but I'm moving on. Can I be an outlaw and run their plates until I get my own is what I'm asking? or should I just wait on my own?

CrappieJunkie Thanks this.

i gotta ask the obvious, who are you leased to? tell us the nature of your complaints so perhaps other drivers are forewarned.

Legally, I don't think so. But, you can do anything you want, until you get caught. If your luck is anything like mine, I can have 364 mistake free logs, and one I screwed up and haven't fixed...and that's the day I get inspected. It's almost like the DOT can smell a violation, sort of a 6th sense

Thanks guys, I won't do It........

Late at night or cross town, maybe, but that's generally frowned upon. When I leased my truck out, it was a stipulation of the lease, no outside loads unless they got a piece of it.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
That's a resounding no. I keep saying this but this is where the AB5 law gets muddy.

Did you pay for the plates from company leased on to? If so, plates are good until due date. You would have to get cargo, liability, permits, MC number, ect..ect..ect. in order to run loads from other companies UNLESS you lease on to the other company and run under their authority.

Back a few years ago when Arrow shut down there were 3 trucks in the Schertz Tx area that were left parked by some local guys that got screwed. They pulled the plates and Ifta’s and other stickers and tags off of the tractors and trailers and used them on other trucks they ran local for awhile till they got their stuff together and could get legal. Lol!
Those trucks sat for over a month parked end to end on a curb in a business park with no plates for over a month and no one messed with them.
