When I made the comment last year I forgot to put we will be FULL automunous in 20 years. I’m paying attention to everything. Why I took a extremely good paying job to stack my 401k. Will it be here soon doubt it. My truck has technology in it and out of nowhere with no cars around the sensor will wig out and slam the brakes almost getting me into an accident. We are still dropping phone calls and we’ve had cell phones for 20 yrs. in a decade i see the auto pilot system working but drivers will still be in the truck. Until it’s full proof it’s not gonna be allowed. That full proof means un hackable. Do you think the person who approves it wants to be involve when cyber terrorist hack some gas tankers and run it into a school? Oh yeah cyber terrorist who hacked SONY. A multi billion dollar company with money to stop this. The encryptive stuff isn’t available to us or cost effective yet. Eventually it will get here but like I said a lot of stuff to work out before someone wants to approve this and be responsible when a big mishap happens. 1 person getting killed will be a field day for lawyers to bankrupt a company worse then a human driven vehicle. Oh yeah there’s no statistics on if it’s safe or not so commercial insurance will have a hand out to get paid also. A lot of stuff is involved before you can just roll this out to the public. If I’m wrong oh well. I’m preparing for it.

I keep saying it, but it bears repeating: coming up with all of the nightmare scenarios of what may go wrong has nothing to do with whether it will happen or not. Appeals to emotion alone can never win a debate.

When online banking first became a thing, I could have cited pretty much all of the same reasons you just did for why it won't happen - and it happened nonetheless.

 

It will never be FULL autonomous. Some of us can’t be replaced by OTTO. Van of course is easy to automate

Nobody gets a prize for correctly guessing when it will happen. Why does ANYONE care? It's less important than 2 nerds arguing about which dinosaur could kill which other dinosaur.

I just posted a video last week of how they were going out of business, the upkeep on the trucks are too expensive and they can’t make any money.

 

As soon as the tech is made more affordable AtA and other lobbyists groups will be contacting Congress and neither safety or job loss concerns will stop it . As long as checks are cut and palms are greased it will happen.
