    2013 Volvo 780 with a d13 engine
Truck was towed to dealer. They said VGT actuator is seized, so need a complete turbo kit, also exhaust manifold is starting to leak.

Since truck has 760k miles not gonna argue if could have removed and replace actuator only.

So since turbo is going to be off. I gave the ok for both turbo and manifold.

I realize they work by book hours, but my question is.
    1) If they dont dont have any major problems. How long should this actually take (not book time)
    2) If done separately how long would each job take in actual time not book hours.

I helped another driver replace his turbo in a truck stop parking lot once. So I have an idea how long that alone takes in actual (not book ) time

Yes I posted before (yesterday) in a different forum, but I was asking a different question.
I was asking today, how long this should take in ACTUAL (not book) time. If each job was done seperatly.
The dealer gave me est of 14 total hours. (Seems excessive to me, but it is what it is)

Turbo if everything is good I can have it swapped in an hour providing no seized bolts manifold in about 6 all together being that egr bolts will always break but if I have to replace manifold no more that 6 for both or manifold separate either way turbo comes off so. I extra charge for turbo replacement when removing manifold. I don’t see y the 14 hrs usually for me I will bill anywhere from 8 to 10.

Hi, nasriza what are the turbo mounting bolts torque specs? I put a new turbo but seems like having a leak under load. Sorry for hijacking the thread. Thanks

Better to quote high and get it done quick than to underquote and have the guy piss and moan that it took too long and that the shop is incompetent.

The dealers quote is based off book time. The actual time it takes is irrelevant. Because there gonna charge that book time quote. I was just trying to figure out how deep they wanted to bend me over.

For the most part it depends on the mechanic doing the job. I am a mechanic and as an example a while ago I had an oil change and greasing Todo and because of some costum things added to the truck ( drain plug etc) took 2 hours instead of 1. Depends on how easy it goes. Generally we respect or fall into the estimated times, but #### happens. People must realize that we don't have time to #### around on just 1 truck when there is another 20 waiting. Trust me it's non stop.
Long story short, the experience of the mechanic doing the job will determine the time it takes. Trust me I work at a dealership.
