It’s simple to follow the money. A lot will depend on the court case in CA as to how much this spreads. NJ got shot down but at the same time they passed 4 or 5 new regulations dealing with IC/employee stuff. Worst case is the ABC test goes federal. No more independent contractors which means everyone gets their tax money sooner, the feds get an influx of money because owner operators leased to carriers will be getting their own authority, and the insurance companies will get a ton of cash when guys like me go from paying around $6k a year to $20k or more as a new carrier.
And like I said a few posts ago, you may be doing it right but for every one person that is there could be 50 that aren’t. And since there isn’t personal responsibility anymore they go complain about how unfairly they were treated and so on and we end up going down this road of the ABC test instead of what currently defines an IC or employee.
