are current production trucks really this badly built?

Watch that entry level driver hold the truck on a hill riding the clutch. Or trying to pin a door. There goes your savings.

If he just doesn't wreck the truck doing something else stupid, of course.

Think the industry just bought themselves a whole load of grief. Can't go back now.

we had a 2013 T680 day cab with a paccar. my boss spent a ton of money on that piece of junk. first it spun a rod bearing at 300K. he had a replacement engine installed. it had an issue where sometimes it would pull a hill and other times it would fall flat on its face. it had another issue where it wouldn't do proper burn-offs. it would throw high soot alarms, do a manual burn at the farm.... the warning would go off for a day or two.... then the alarm comes back. do it again. the cycle continues. send it back to Kenworth for repairs, get the truck back and it still does it. it also had all new DPF system installed.

the truck was a pile of doggie doo doo. he took a huge loss and traded that pile in towards...…. another paccar powered POS. I think they are a stinker of an engine. if it were my company I would not be buying them. I would buy T800 18 speed manual cummings X15 (since that's probably the better option in a paccar truck these day)

he doesn't learn (my boss) he will keep buying more paccar powered junk. as for me I just drive it, if it breaks I call the shop. come get this turd.

a 12 speed transmission with a 105K lb load? I strongly dislike the eaton autoshift but there is a reason why he is buying 18 "ultra shift", weight and hills. we have plenty of both in Wyoming county ny state.

I was told I get my manual 18 speed T880 back early next week. that will be a relief. I will take a pass on ultra shift 18 junk. this thing shifts entirely too much, and its entirely unaware that I am driving on uneven grounds..... hills that go up and down. 29 shifts going up the hill to a farm is just unproductively stupid.

on the expressway at steady rate speeds im sure this system works great, but on back hilly rural roads doing dairy farm pickup.... this system falls flat on its face and plain out sucks.

it seems like the saleswoman and Kenworth northeast has my boss wrapped up around her little finger. he is buying another T880 autoshift 18. I think a Detroit DD15 with the highest capacity autoshift would probably be a better choice, but he's stubborn and set in his ways.

Not missed autoshift for a second, probably put on 700k since getting out of Sunfish in 2010 or so.

Hooked up to a trailer I had dropped after a snow, and pulled it out without getting stuck, man, you can't beat that feeling.

I picked up an empty tanker in the iced over yard yesterday. I had a heck of time getting it to move. I think It would have been easier with a clutch.

I don't want to jinx myself, so I will only say I'm fixing to clock 700K.

I was only slip seated because I was out on injury for two weeks and he lost of number of trucks to breakdowns. Normally I am NOT slip seated. In fact I take the keys. I don't like it but he had no choice so I understand. In our buisness ever truck needs an overweight permit he does not get loaners.
