Are freight brokerages going to be around in 10 years? Is it something I should even try to pursue at this point as a viable career option? The market seems really saturated and lots of new tech on the scene. I'd also really like to get the 2 cents of some O/Os on this one.

They are going to be around a long time. Majority of people who get their authority have no customer, have no idea how to get a customer. Buy a truck and run the load boards.

If you're not a great salesperson then stay as a drone in some large brokerage or logistics.

It's good to know that they will still be around. In the cold light of day I have to be honest with myself--I'm not a good salesman. I think I would love handling existing accounts for a large firm but I just can't make myself be as pushy as I would need to be to land new accounts. Thanks for your input!

There will always be a need. There will be a need for real trucks And drivers too, not automated.

Humans will always be needed to keep the technology working.

They have been around since the first ship set sale to go visit another nation and they will be around a long time. If your looking for a JOB then forget it. If your a smart go getter that can make things happen when no one else can then the world is your oyster. Are you a worker , manager or entrepreneur ???

Dude if you cant land new accounts brokerage is not for you. Working existing accounts is little more than data entry and pays just as bad.

I should have thought of this first ... I was a freight broker along with being a carrier but now I’m back to driving. Why ? Easiest job of the 3. As long as you don’t end up in a ditch , driving is the least complicated and easiest of the 3. I was talking to a Landstar agent the other day. He told me they have about 1500 agents with about 6000 drivers. Out of balance you may think ? Yes it is because so many want to sit at home or in an office and email and phone there way to success. If you have a gift for gab , smooth talker cool under pressure very assertive you have a chance of reaching that $200,000 a year broker job but so many don’t. After going through most phases of the trucking industry I think driving is the easiest.
