Thursday was just awesome. Awesome I tell you.

Take the connie they said, go to this warehouse and pick up this stuff (hands me paperwork, mostly gibberish to me) and go to the mine at Climax (top of Freemont Pass, 11,300 feet) We have a regular LTL style run of a guy that goes up EVERY DAY in a connie so this must be big or really important.

it's two pallets. maybe 3x4 and a 1x3. Probably weighs 200lbs total. WTF? Can i takea pickup? no, just take the truck. so thewhole truck all the way over eisenhower tunnel up to Fremont pass, get there and the guy is like "what's this?" I dunno. Hmmmmmm nobody is crying for it.

do you see a road? Cuz i don't see a road.

yeah, it got worse from there.
Had to chain up twice on the day. They actually closed I70 right behind me coming back. and the big stuff wasn't supposed to hit until thursday night. I70 closed for good around 5pm or so and is still closed (both directions, Denver to Vail. (11am friday).

Yeah, 2 pallets, 200lbs, maybe 200 miles, 9 hours. Trucking is retarded.

    But wait, it gets worse
Get a call at 5:30pm thursday "oh, we need youi to leave the shop at 5:15am and go pick up big concrete boxes and take them to Blackhawk." (I was off, was already snowing by this time and mtns are getting pummelled. Blackhawk is at like 8000 feet elevation)

Ummmmmmmmmm does no one read a weather report? There's no way they don't cancel. And it's a old mountain mining town. Really steep roads

    Ohhhh you gotta go

Fine get ready to leave at 5:15am with 3 other guys. Shoveled the deck, salted it a ton, grabbed dunnage. (salted that too) There's 4" or more of snow on the ground. Main roads are ok but not off of them. The other guys are in no hurry. They are more senior than me, i ain't leaving before them. Finally about 5:45 we roll out.
Get there, they load us and they call the guy again. Guy in Blackhawk. "oh no, don't send those guys up, there's like a foot of snow, there's no way they are getting up this hill"

    NO FREAKING POOP!!!!!!!!!!

So cancelled and drive back to shop. I took this nice picture while waiting for the train to clear the tracks.
    20200207_071816_resized.jpg

Started snowing again and there's another 1 to 2 on the ground, supposed to snow all day. (I70 is still closed in the mtns).

I could have stayed home and been perfectly happy.

As long as the top bundle is under 30’ your good. I generally only put 2 get straps on each layer and the rest over the top. I also like doing two chokers that aren’t attached to the trailer at all. That keeps everything nice and tight. 79B68B30-2907-4D7F-8040-F6B01FEF35D5.jpeg
