i saw a walking floor trailer in use for the first time yesterday. Not in a food situation, but delivering landscaping---mulch or something? i was also there delivering something.

i had heard of the term "walking floor" for years, but was unclear what it was. This is AMAZING TECHNOLOGY!

i think if a walking floor could be used in food/beverage delivery, possibly in conjunction with a low deck trailer, then food/beverage delivery could actually be viable! In this way, you can stand at end of the trailer and simply load a handtruck from the ground-----you wouldn't even funk with a liftgate. Would save a lot of time. Could possibly cut delivery times in half, possibly more! This is why i like side-loader.

This could be a game changer.

I have seen walking floors as well.

    it is quite amazing.

The one good time to use a walking floor would be to unload at the customer and instead of waiting for hours for a lumper to move their rear ends.

Well first, that walking floor weight something meaning that you can load less. And 2nd you know how megas is all about saving and buying cheapest crap possible, and pretty sure that walking floor is not a cheap thing

No it isn’t, and the way some of the big fleet drivers drive could render a walking floor useless in short order. Those trailers don’t particularly like being twisted up like a corkscrew.

Oh come on. I'm sure the trainee training rookies at CR England would do a great job explaining how to use this. He's got four whole months experience, after all.

I haul wood chips and bark. Some of the guys use walking floor trailers, so while we're all sitting in line to use the truck dump they drive around us and go walk it off. Like was said above though, they are a good bit heavier and more expensive so not sure if the guys that have them actually come out better or not. Also you have to install a wet kit on your truck to make it work.

They are amazing though. A good friend of mine pulled one for years hauling rice hulls to rich folks with expensive horses. They used it for bedding. He could just walk it off in a pile wherever they wanted it.

Another thing with a walking floor is you can shift the load you can get your axles right if they’re not over the total allowed weight of both tandems.

Their an incredible trailer but They have their drawbacks a little expensive to run the seals in the floor need replaced every 2 to 3 years especially if you’re hauling corrosive products once the floor wears out you pull it all out and put new seals in it turn it around and stick it back in.Once that wears out you just put a whole new floor in it ,very expensive.
It’s all hydraulic so you have to have a wet kit on your truck extra weight and money.
And it will walk off a palletize loads really well if the pallets are new and square but if you get a bunch of old crappy pallets it’s a nightmare!
But if used the way they were designed for Cottonseed, cotton meal ,cotton hulls hauling in and out of feedlots and dairys they work really really well and last a long time!
