The mounting 'socket' on my dashcam has deteriorated and bits of black plastic have fallen out. I'm talking about the socket that mounts on the ball of the windshield mount. Is the socket replaceable? It looks like it might be but I'm not sure where to get the parts

Check out the site ifixit.com. They may have the parts you are looking for. If not they will at least have step by step repair guides. I use them to fix computers all the time.

Also, for parts you kight check newegg.com or the website of the manufacturer.

As I expected, the unit is out of warranty. They will swap me for $120, ie not worth it.

Im going to use this unit as a permanently-mounted unit in a 4-wheeler and move my Garmin 45 front and center
