In fact - now I think about it - I had an instance last week where I forgot to shut the generator off and ran down the road for 5 hours with it running. I may have left the block heater on for a short spell at start up before I left.Hurricane69 Thanks this. -
But hey, I'm certainly no expert and could be entirely wrong on this. I haven't fooled with a block heater since I moved to Florida 20 years ago.Cabinover101 and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
blairandgretchen Thanks this.

Maybe on a Detroit with it right by the water pump it pulls cold water from below the heater and pumps it over the hot rod.
I don’t really know but a 60 series will kill the heater if you start it plugged in. I have done it twice.Itsbrokeagain, larry2903, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -

The ac is on in the truck right now. I have to go to Minneapolis to pick up my conestoga in the very near future, so I might have to pop the hood and turn the heater valves on...for the first time this winterCabinover101, blairandgretchen and spyder7723 Thank this. -
