Really bad situation. When I first started my lease operation back at JCT, I had over 10 grand in the bank. This is exactly why I recommend that as a minimum before one begins running their own trucking business.
The first truck I got from JCT was a lemon from hell and my down time and repair costs were legendary (think way over ten grand in repairs first year). If I hadn't had some surplus in the bank it would have ended me.
Cautionary tale. BTW, I got a letter in the mail about my hazmat expiring and I had to go pay a fee and get a new picture at the DMV. No way around this. This is starting to sound crazy but mistakes happen sir. I've made some doozies in my day.

With choice you’ll always be in the hole .......
Might want to try the northeast and do 2 loads a day (when possible) . That’s probably your best shot at making any money. -
