Good day all.
What is your opinion on buying an enclosed trailer to haul cars? I have been in trucking for 13 years now, pulled just about every trailer, but never car carrier trailer. Seems to me they pay more per car, from .75c to $1 per mile. Any advice is appreciated.

If you never even hauled cars enclosed isnt the way to go. You're probably better off with a 7-9 car trailer. The works slow its inconsistent and the right damage on the right car and you'd be in a world of hurt. But if you dont mind winging it then go for it. It is very lucrative especially if you can find a region to run and get a good relationship with a broker or 2 or 3 or 4

You can buy a used 10 car for the same price as a used xl12.

That's the thing, from day one I was trying do to the best I could, provide great service, new equipment etc. But it doesn't matter for these broker and shippers. The next guy with $10,000 truck and beat up trailer is making same as you. I think with car transport I will be able to build customer base that values great service and integrity.

Yeah a few individuals may value all of those things. But the people with enough work to run a truck consistently may not give a #### about any of that. And if they do work with you it'll be on a give me a discount type of deal..

...sooner or later your customer will ask to lower the price because someone offered him unbelievably low price for the same service...
Kawinige01 Thanks this.
