The dental office did the test because my wife worked for them and I snore occasionally, usually after a few drinks... She brought the equipment home and I tested at my house.
I am an O/O so no company is not requesting the test.
I used to play rugby/Australian Rules Football and have a thick neck, I'm a heavy bloke, but not obese, 6'3" which is what my height has been since teen years, 245lbs.
I sleep perfectly for the most part, and actually probably sleep better when I'm in the truck, no pets jumping on and off the bed.
I'm not worried about passing the test, I know I will, however I'm not OK with paying for a scam test especially when the Quack doc is stating that his hands are tied because its an FMCSA mandated requirement, which I now know it obviously is not. So I'm keeping my $180.00 that he wants for the testing.
Thanks all for the responses. Stay Safe -

I talked to a coworker recently and the same thing happened to him. He was told, "Don't feel bad, everybody is going to be tested like this soon enough."
Does anybody happen to know if this is up to the individual doctor/doctor office? Or is this a new requirement by the feds?
Also, is everybody getting tested before recertification or is this just the folks who they deem as potentially having it?? -
Aamcotrans Thanks this.

They same the same thing about BP and type 2 diabetes.
How many people with either of those were magically cured by a CPAP? None.. -

If you are told you need to get a sleep study and think it is B.S. then I would just find another doc. As long as you give the 2nd one the exact same info you gave the first, it's not "doctor shopping" and is ok.Aamcotrans Thanks this. -
