ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Texas DPS troopers are investigating a fatal wreck that claimed the life of a truck driver and closed part of Texas Highway 62 in Orange County.

The wreck, which involved multiple vehicles including the logging truck, happened at about 9:15 a.m. along southbound Texas 62 about a mile north of FM2802 according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Raymond Marsh, 42, of Nacogdoches, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck by Orange County Precinct Two Justice of the Peace Chad Jenkins the release said.

The wreck forced the closure of all lanes of the highway according to DPS. It has since reopened.

Marsh's logging truck was traveling south on Texas 62 when a 2003 Ford passenger car driven by a 46-year-old Orange woman turned into his path the release said.

The logging truck struck the rear of the Ford and left the road and struck several trees before coming to rest.

The woman was not injured in the wreck.

From the Texas Department of Public Safety..

At approximately 9:15a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on SH 62 in Orange County.

The crash occurred approximately one mile North of FM 2802 and involved a commercial motor vehicle.

The preliminary DPS crash investigation indicates that a commercial motor vehicle hauling timber was traveling southbound on SH 62.

A 2003 Ford passenger vehicle was traveling on Wade Road approaching SH 62. The driver of the Ford failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of the log truck. The log truck struck the rear portion of the Ford and continued off the road.

The log truck struck several trees before coming to rest in the woods.

The driver of the log truck, 42-year-old Raymond Marsh of Nacogdoches, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Chad Jenkins at the scene.

Call me crazy, but I don't see the first strap on that stuff. Don't know if it would have made any difference.
    Nevertheless, RIP driver

That is a pole style log truck. That means now straps, just wrappers holding the top logs to the lower ones in a bundle and the weight of the loads hold them in the bunks.

Sad, very sad. People need to pay attention more when they drive! Don't pull out in front of a big truck

My dinky little 30 foot Freightliner Rollback is 9 tons empty.
Hardly a mission goes by anymore where I am not cut off - like I can stop on a dime.
Idiots. Then I go by billboards with "Truck accident? Call this Lawyer."
Sure; call them - If you live.
Be sure to omit the part where you cut in 4 feet in front of the truck.

Bud A., PacoTaco, mjd4277 and 3 others Thank this.
