Same here.. Think ill hit 70k in the year ive been driving for this guy. My average week is 4 loads southeast regional flatbed and the difference between 5mpg vs 6mpg is about $100 for me right now. Its not my truck or fuel card so A.. Not my problem.. And B.. I can replace that $100 with one or two phonecalls and a few moments of back and forth rate negotiation on a single load. Basically.. Get a $700 offer up to $800 and im now driving a 6mpg truck. Except its still a good old simple truck that i fix on the roadside. Last job i was in an automatic '16 cascadia ryder daycab with a trans that wigged out all the time and i couldnt do anything. That great mileage didnt do me any favors lacking a dealer scannamajig.

This 5mpg peterpig always lets me in to sweet talk her back to base for proper fixin. That is money in my pocket. far as im concerned days at home with the misses and kids are part of my pay package

I think Ridgeline is an o/o, but pretends to own a huge fleet.
The same is with your posts. The prices you posted in another threads.are below the market rate. So it seems like maybe you did an engine or two, or just heard about some stuff, but did not actually rebuild lots of engines yourself

Well I'll give ya credit for being honest. However I'll ask you to take 1 minute to do one thing. Call a local shop and ask them how many book hours it is to do a basic in frame on a ddec III or iv. If it's more than 25, call another shop cause they are screwing you.

And a ton of what he had done is not included with a basic level 1 inframe. Bull gear for example is 15 hours if I remember right.
A basic inframe is rings, pistons, liners and liner o rings, piston cooling nozzles, exhaust and intake gaskets (tho I'd only change them if they are leaking, if not leaking no reason to remove the manifolds from the head), new cam bearings, and of course a new head gasket cause the head had to come off. Heck it doesn't even include new rod and main bearings, tho I always insist on them since we got the pan off and the rods out. Changing the main bearings and thrust washer only adds 2 hours and a couple hundred bucks.

I would really think twice about getting rid of that one unless you have other reasons. A reliable truck that's up for the task everyday in mint condition making you money being traded for a supposed couple miles per gallon more fuel mileage? Not a wise move if you ask me. Your increased insurance cost will eat any gains up alone not to mention the headaches if you end up with a dud.

The Detroit kits don’t include the bearings, they’re $300 more. other aftermarket ones do. Every quote I’ve had in 10 yrs, for a bull gear, at least 5 or 6 quotes, if not more, were $2000, or 20 Labor hrs. That includes resealing both covers. Inframe Labor, overhauls have always been told 40-50 labor hours. Usually takes a Shop,7-10 days. I would be very suspect of anyone doing an inframe in 2 days. I’m sure it could be done, but really think, a lot of Shops will skip a lot of things. What if it needs counterbores? That’s a 3-4 hr job alone. Also needs to set for 24 hrs, after inserts are installed. I don’t want a rushed wham bam job. We spent 15 days, 6-9 hrs a day, maybe more. But He took the time to clean everything, All the bolt holes were chased, and ran a magnet through. And there’s always a snag somewhere, on an old Truck. Rust and wires that need inspecting etc. 2 day inframe? No Thank You.
