Oh crap.... last week, I was on the side of the road waiting for roadside assistance and some ID10T hit my trailer, spun around hitting someone else, and ended up in front of my driver's side headlight. That other person got hurt and was taken for medical.
Officers later determined that he was drunk..... but the report I obtained contained no pictures ( I know that they took dozens), it also indicated that the ID10T had no insurance (none found, hoping the officer just failed to get it), and the injured driver wasn't licensed to drive. Overhearing them talk, I heard he's going to be charged vehicular assault for the injury and DUI. I didn't see him taken away by anyone, so I don't know if he was arrested.
My question is two fold:
1) is there a way to find out if he was arrested or if he has charges pending? And...
2) is there a way to get more detailed information on the report?

IF you send in the money they tell you it will cost for a police report if you cant fix it yourself you will need the report to have your full coverage insur. pay to have trailer fixed?

The problem is that the report is lacking on details. Namely, the dozens of pictures they took, the statements from all involved parties and witnesses, and whether or not any citations were issued(which should have been the case with the injured party, and quite frankly, I don't care beyond hoping he gets better as he was as much a victim, but wasn't properly licensed) and if the ID10T who actually caused it was arrested/has pending charges. I am hoping that the officers simply failed to note his insurance (which doesn't seem likely, so it looks like this person was uninsured and should be charged with vehicular assault, DUI, and driving without insurance).
These are details that our insurance company needs. -
Left side door at the outside lower corner bashed in with a broken hinge.
Left end of the DOT bar bent upward by 45 degrees
Left side mud flap torn off(recently replaced)
LRO wheel bent beyond use, possibly damaging the tire as well.
Rear axle not square with the front (at an angle) with frame damage at that point.
My company is not sure if the trailer is a total loss yet...
Quite frankly, I wanted to reach out and give this ID10T a piece of my mind, but I would have likely been charged with assault...Flat Earth Trucker and baha Thank this. -
Police dept. may have not got back the findings from DA yet as to what his court appt. lawyer will try to pull out of their (hat)

Since it was Colorado it's possible the drunk that hit you was a cop and they like to cover things like that up. Just sayin'

One of my trucks got totaled with its frame failed ahead of the rear axle under the bed when hit back there at the post office. Insurance company offered to send the whole thing to a frame shop for a factory new OEM frame replacement. I think they were to pay 4500 dollars for that instead of well over 6000 buy out (And sell at auction as salvage)
Im generally of the school that if the frame of a vehicle is gone, its totaled. Today it seems you can do things with new frames in some cases. This would be the one vehicle I would have had it done. They would have had to tear it all the way down which isnt a bad thing since it also sustained other damages in the hit. -

I reached out to the DA to try to get more detailed information and was told the ID10T will be charged with DUI, careless driving, and compulsory insurance (as in driving without it). All other information is considered part of discovery evidence for trial. First appearance isn't until March 20 for arraignment.
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
