Percentage on platform starts at 8%. They used to do an extra 1% for an additional axle. If you’re talking big stuff like 10 axle and up, you’d want to call a recruiter.

How hard do they micromanage you over there at Landstar? It's getting ridiculous over here at Schneider. They're watching everything you do like a hawk

Zero micromanaged. They give you plenty of rope. Just make sure your doing the right thing.

LS it's wide open. Biggest thing is where you live, to make money. They say half the loads don't make it to our board, so be nice to the agents. I sit for 5 days go out for ten days. Open deck is weak in February.

Landstar is bad. Go to Schneider.

You'll see Landstar at orientation, and again at the half day business course you have to take within the first six months. Other than that, unless you have an accident, get a ticket, or have a failed inspection, you'll only hear from Landstar when it's time for a random drug test. Landstar doesn't get directly involved in operations at all. You will be dealing entirely with agents who are themselves contractors like you.

Working at Landstar is as close as you can get to having your own authority.
