Trying to get TWIC, can it be done out of the Knoxville TN location?

So I registered on the universal enrollment government site to obtain a twic card and the closest place I can go to get this done is:

    Identgo
    9080 Barbee Ln #102,
    Knoxville, TN 37923

This is the same place I got my hazmat fingerprinting and background check done last year. However for twic there is a disclaimer on the site saying that I can get enrolled for twic, but not Activated.

Not sure what that means. I called up the location and the secretary there says "Yes you are fine come on in" but I am not certain to trust her. The next closest place would be a couple hours away in either Chattanooga or Greenville SC.

If I can get enrolled at Knoxville, will I be able to get Activated somehow?

I don't know what "getting activated" means with regards to TWIC. When I got mine I showed my documents, signed my name a few times, paid the fee, gave my fingerprints and then waited for my card and my PIN to arrive in the mail.

One thing I did notice is that the HazMat people update the website to show your status. The TWIC people do not update or only update long after they mail your card/PIN.

I don't think the nextgen cards need to be activated, at least mine did not.

Did you have it mailed to you directly or did you tell them to ship it to an enrollment center for in-person pick-up? If you did you need to pick a single enrollment center for all transactions.

First I've heard of having to "Activate" a TWIC, and I currently hold one myself...

There's an online site you have to go to and register in order to access some ports. I don't remember the name of it but Baltimore won't let you in until you've registered.

That's the one! It's been so long since I've registered there on my own, I forgot the name.

Anyway, that's what your woman in Knoxville was talking about when she said "activation".
