How to put in notice to company

I worked for a company for 2.5 years. I told them I found a better job and they routed me straight home. I told them I was turning in a 2 week notice and told them if they could get me home for a certain day I would finish out with them. They failed to get me home for that day and I had to deadhead back to one of their terminals and unload into a rental car.

Such is life.

 

I gave 2 weeks notice. Planners gave me the crap deliveries for those two weeks but they got me to the requested terminal on the requested date. So no complaints there.
I did spend 3 hours explaining to the head of the terminal that I gave two weeks and it’s not my problem that the main office didn’t tell him I was dropping a truck there.

 

I think I almost had to split a taxi with a Clara when my truck was in the shop at gary. But when I left I gave them a weeks notice. Dispatch was actully pretty good about getting me to my home location

 

You to your company - I quit , how do you want to handle this ???

I did this once and my company totally bent over backwards to try and keep me and they did keep me. About once a month or so I would quit but I would stay and it totally changed how I thought and operated. I had a bad episode at a receiver and I told my company

They would not. I finally left when winter came. They keep trying to get me back.

 

Unless you're a specialized hauler with very special skills I don't buy that. Companies deal with dozens of apps every single week. Why would they beg you to stay? I know a guy at my old company that worked there for 20 years, accident and ticket free. He told them he quit and they said to bring the truck back to the terminal.

 

If you aren't going around tearing up company trucks and not taking responsibility over it, it's fairly common. In my 8 years of driving I've had 3 jobs. Both jobs I left asked me to stay.

Swift was the first job, and the DM wanted me to stay. Second was a local-ish Michigan company and the terminal manager was literately begging me to stay. Not so much because I'm great, but because he didn't want to have to hire another driver. Heck, I still see him around town a few times a year and every time I do he asks if I want to go back.

 

What if you're still in Training with a bad trainer, have an accident on your DAC and want out before you get another one? Two weeks might end up as two more accidents.

 

Right and this is schneider we’re talking about...most they’ll offer is a penny raise and truck with an inverted in it. Maybe even move you up on the waitlist to get a p4 if you don’t have one already lol
