The flying J / Pilot in east st.louis used to be Big Dugas truck stop. It was an ambest. It has seriously went down hill since pilot bought it out. The original owner still ran the shop out back but as recently as a year ago sold that out to pilot as well. It's now a pilot / flying j truck care shop.

Big Dugas was the restaurant. Stop was called the Gateway.

Yep 10-4 you're right about that. I had forgotten about the Gateway moniker.

Got some serious design flaws, then... seriously, trusting your reefer to give you the temperature inside the box creates a single point of failure scenario. Need to have access to a secondary thermometer, but without creating a security risk like you identified

Last month I was at the Wally in Bethlehem, NY, and the same sign was on every light pole, too.

I haven't inquired yet if this is a Walmart thing, or Bethlehem PD thing. The BPD is notorious for overstepping their authority.

If you have a serious need for a secondary temperature sensor, it really wouldn't be that hard to install another sensor in the box, near the top front corner, out of the way, and wire it into the power system, then send data to a cab receiver. Probably not cheap to get quality equipment to do the job right, but not hard.

Also, you can insert a probe into one of your floor vents for a quick and dirty temperature reading, but you would need an actual probe, at least six or so inches long to get through the tubing and the floor into open air.

If the load is sealed with corks, you would want to re-seal any cork you pushed out of the way with a couple plastic bags, because you wouldn't be putting that cork back in after you knock it loose from the bottom.

Yes it is finished, with additional parking across the street on the north side of the original lot, it's much nicer.

Your control box at the front where you set the reefer temp displays your current box temperature when you have the reefer running. None of my company's trailers even have a thermometer in that vent door. We pick up our loads seal the doors an get to ridin. I just keep a check on the front control box whenever we stop in route. If a customer were to reject a load because of temperature reasons it's not on me cuz i did my job by making sure the reefer temp was set an maintained properly according to the front control box.

Lemme rephrase... I'm the sort of guy that likes to have not just a backup, but a backup that works independently just in case the primary fails. Trusting the screen on the reefer unit to always be working and accurate without any sort of backup feels like a single point of failure in my book. God knows I've had at least one reefer kick the bucket on me already, and I know it won't be the last...

I spend enough money at Wal Mart, and put up with all their rules, delivering at their DCs, I’m parked at one right now.Along with about 7 other Trucks. No trash, to be seen. One horse town in Ohio. Going to get up, grab a coffee at MCds, on the way to deliver. No harm done. I’m a contributor to their local economy. They should be grateful, and welcome Me, My Truck, the supplies on it, and the few dollars I’ll spend. I’ll be leaving ASAP. Just thought a positive review was needed. Lol
