It's not a *great* scenario, but reducing the workweek to 40 hours might end up with everything being more like LTL, which seems a LOT healthier than living out for weeks on end on the road in my experience so far... pay would be significantly lower, but then again long waits at shippers w/ sketchy "starts after 2 hours and you gotta fight for it" detention policies mean you're not getting paid for your time anyway... -
Everything can never be and will never be all ltl. Flatbed and tanker freight in particular, will continue to be full truckload going long distances. The railroads will never be able to handle enough of the truckload van/reefer freight to make a big difference either, especially if it is time sensitive freight. I don't see a 40 hr week in the future for most truck drivers. And $800 a week, especially for anyone living in a metro area would not be enough for most people with families to make it.

Unless they were calling mechanics and others that worked there contractors?
If that's was the case, like it or hate it AB5 is doing what it was intended to do. -
plynnjr92 and Hegemeister Thank this.

Well I'm not a lawyer nor care one any or the other. I doubt if closing down operation in Calif, would force ongoing, existing,. Or even law suits based on when they did have a presence in the state, to federal court.
