I have a 07 Freightliner Century 14 liter Detroit EGR deleted. This truck has been running rough occasionally lately, but has definately gotten worse now.

Especially I notice on take off, but even when just driving down the road the truck will sputter around erratically. I thought I got bad fuel, and dumped lucas injector cleaner in the tank. It continued doing it, so next tank I dumped some Howes Diesel Treat in it thinking maybe I had water in the fuel. I also drained my fuel filter and it shows to be fine. (Less than halfway up the filter in the clear housing.)

Now while going down the road it would not get above 1,200 RPM's in 10th gear so I downshifted to 9th and it won't get above 1,500 RPM's. It kind of sputters a bit but I noticed my turbo is not spooling up. I'm wondering now if a sensor or turbo could possibly be going bad. I recently replaced the turbo pressure sensor on the intake manifold for a similar issue. Yes its a genuine Freightliner part.

Does anyone have any ideas if it could possibly be turbo related or fuel or none of the above? At first I thought possibly injectors, but its not throwing any codes.

Its a factory turbo. I think it's definately something turbo related. I'm thinking that turbo pressure sensor again possibly, because I shut it off and restarted it and the turbo spools up fine for a while.

Sounds like it could be a vpod sticking issue.
Mine screws up once in a while when it’s really cold.
Does it blow smoke when it’s running poorly?

    No fuel no turbo spool.
Bad inputs to the ECM can cause no fuel.
They have a shaft on the front with two gears side by side. If the key is half mucked up it can cause timing sensor errors. When you shift, jake or shut it off a gear can move on the shaft. Then run well for awhile.
Not saying that is your problem just sharing. You need a knowledgeable person with good software. If you often have SRS, TRS and or timing point errors I would suspect it.

Turbo also won’t spool if the VPOD sticks and VGT turbo vanes are held in the closed position.
Like a potato up the tail pipe...
Engine rpms also drop quicker between shifts when this occurs because of all the exhaust back pressure in the engine.

07 14.0 liter stock VGT turbo uses a VPOD.
EGR can be deleted and still maintain the integrity of the stock VGT turbo.
