Eh I don’t see this as a near future threat but eventually it will be.
Can you say modern day pirates? It gets me all hot under the collar just thinking about it.
Super charged up armored Mopar 50 in the bed, stop sticks and other debri.
    Mexican cartel style.
Oh yeah, I could get behind this.

Nobody ever sees it as a near future threat when they sneak it in slowly. And the insane part about this is it isn’t even under the radar. It’s out there in the open.
Everytime someone goes out and trades for or buys a new car or truck with the lastest so called “driver assist” feature they are just helping it along to get closer to happen.

that Detroit 5.0 on the new Cascadias will help Them get more info since it’s fully integrated 2 way communication.

they are essentially charging the owners and using their driving data to collect info on roads, driving conditions, driving styles, and countless other data.

In other words best info collection to date. Charge owner use info.

Stop your fear mongering. Yeah it’ll come and eventually take our jobs but the first wave is bound to have a catastrophic event that’ll slow them down a decade. Look at what happens when we have a mass shooting or what’s been happening with the electronic cigs. Kills a small fraction of people and public starts pushing politicians to do something. Wait until that autonomous truck bugs out and plows through some folks in NYC. Don’t matter how much money you give the politicians when those trucks do a big oops general population is going to want something done.

Thats fine they can run that ####hole all they want, . When is one of these things gonna run thru a snowstorm? They spend to much time in the sunny states , they can have all that cheap freight

that’s the thing, when these things hit the southern states, what happens to the drivers in the southern states? One would think they would go where the money is which would be north and into the snow storms causing a cascading effect. but once these trucks are widely used drivers in all sectors are going to feel it.

Not fear mongoring. I’m just being overly. compassionate about it I guess. I believe for a good reason tho.
You say the goovernment will step in and do something to slow it down or whatever if something catastropic happens but look at what happened when that lumber load that went balls to the wall into Denver. Did they get together the following day or week and pass a law that “says starting Monday all cdl operators will have to be “retrained” in mountainous or heavy traffic operation”

Another one of these #### posts let it go! It ain't happening man, not for a long time. Freaking drivers act like they're gonna wake up tomorrow without a job. PLEASE!!! these trucks don't have AI, it's just a computer that needs data to do its job. If any of those data streams are wrong or not working shes dead in the water.

Driver is only in the truck to satisfy the law. Florida made driverless trucks legal and they have done tests with no human in the truck.
