I had a ticking sound towards the rear of my n14, it would normally com in after the engine started to warm up, it got loud with acceleration, a mechanic came and adjusted all valves and injectors after I told him what it was doing, it didn't change a thing, but the interesting past was that if I turned the jake on and off the sound would go away for some seconds? To not make the story much longer, I took the rear jake off and pull on the silinoids, one of them didn't have tension so I took it apart and the smallest of the three Springs that you will find inside was all broken went out and got some better Springs and problem solved, a new silinoid was going to cost 300 bucks at dealer, so hope this was helpful

Jake problems with N14 were common.
